Good day Jodi: I'm reading book 3 and I'm wondering; why are the mission folks, not using under the skin, tracking devices?
Jodi Taylor
Hi Michel - thanks for your very excellent question. Which is what politicians say when the answer is less than very excellent. When I started writing these books it obviously made sense for them to have some sort of tracking device but as an author, I couldn't make it too easy. I couldn't have them saying, 'Oh God, we've lost Max again but never mind - she's half a mile away in that direction,' so I gave them tags and tag readers but they couldn't be that efficient otherwise there would be no drama. (Lack of drama is not often a feature of St Mary's life but you know what I mean.) Hence, tag readers that work quite well when the author wants them too and less well when she doesn't.
There's an episode in Book 4 when the tag reader works too well and another in Book 11 when it doesn't. Blame the author - I do.
Best regards, Jodi.

A thought & A question - From a technical point of view 3 locations, at least one far from st Mary's, acting as back up for each other is far more sensible than one or two locations, aside from Time wars there are fires, crazy climate events and regular wars, etc. Any hints as to how Max, et al, get back to usual St Mary's chaos, as she is there when Matthew goes to work for TP?

I have read all your books. They make me cry/laugh each time I read them, I restart the series each time a new full book comes out. Luckily for me I started reading late in the series. How do you pick the events in history? I am in the US and in my 60's so I really don't know much of English history and I love it. Any thoughts about doing other countries?
