Dan Walsh:
I've been following you on Amazon for quite a while, and just finished What Follows After. Loved it! And I suspected that you were drawing on your childhood experiences a bit. I just published my 11th book on Amazon, and I'm wondering if I should take this to the next level. As in finding a literary agent specializing in Christian authors. Or would that just be a waste of my time (and money)?

Jane, SO sorry I'm just seeing this now. Don't know how I missed it. For me, when I started in 2008, getting a good agent was critical to being published. Now, since the emergence of the Indie world, it's totally optional. If you hope to get a deal with traditional publishers, probably recommended. If you're going indie, there's really no point. When I went indie in 2015, I parted ways with my agent (amicably), but again, no real reason to keep the relationship going then.

I'm an aspiring writer, but I'm dealing with two things: I get discouraged every single day because 96% of manuscripts are rejected, and I haven't had an idea for years, literally. There's too many people wanting to be writers, and knowing there's so much competition just kills me a little every day. When I get motivated, immediatly something appears about the industry that kills it. Any tips on how to deal with this?

I love your Forever Home series. I just finished Saving Parker & it was, again, a terrific read. Love the characters & the storylines with a strong Christian undertone. Having been in dog rescue myself, just curious, do you have any rescue dogs of your own & have you ever worked with rescues? Looking forward to the next story in this series.
