Goodreads asked Kevin Sutherland:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Kevin Sutherland One of the things that seems to hang me up is trying to write a scene as I first imagined it. I get fixated on the POV, the setting, the characters involved, a one-liner I want to work in, etc., and I have a hard time building the scene around it. To break through the block, I'll start the scene from scratch, switching up some or all of what I had initially envisioned. The new version might not be the direction I ultimately head in, but it at least stops whatever feedback loop I'm in and gets the words flowing again.
