Goodreads asked Keith McCormick:

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Keith McCormick One of my coauthor on the SPSS Modeler Cookbook was approached to write about the 'other' SPSS, SPSS Statistics. He doesn't use it often, so he asked me to consider taking on the challenge. The team and I came up with a fun concept, so it was easy to commit.

The idea is to describe a problem in terms of the standard way of doing things that you first learn, and then showing how with a just a little bit of extra effort you can get a much better result. So, instead of just using linear regression, try AMOS. Instead of charting in the menus, or outside of SPSS, try using Viz Designer or Graphing Production Language (GPL). We tackle about a dozen disparate topics, but focused around analysis and visualization.

It is decidedly an Intermediate level book. Here is the way you already know ... let's take it one step further.
