Manuel Padilla Jr. "Coconut" details the effects of racism on a child and his family. The past few years this country has experienced an epidemic of racism. What younger audiences may not be aware of is how rampant it has been throughout American history. "Coconut" takes place in the 1960's and 1970's, a time when many people of color were still not accepted -- despite being born in America.
