Chris Bohjalian:
When did you realize that you wanted to express your creativity and knowledge through writing? Was it encouraged by others? What creative expressions (e.g. art, dance, media, music) have you tried in the past, present or future to express your creativity through?
Chris Bohjalian
Oh, I knew I wanted to be a novelist from a very young age. I was writing hideous one and two page short stories in the second grade: Tales of disembodied hands emerging from wishing wells and sibling rivalry on the school safety patrol.
I have zero talent in art, dance, and music. Zip, zero, nada.
And so while I was often in the middle school and high school plays, it was usually because no one else in the student body wanted the part.
And, yes, my parents were always very supportive of my writing.
Thanks for asking!

Chris Bohjalian:
I really enjoy not only your novels but your blog posts. You are an informed author who takes the necessary time to research and present supporting ideas. My question is this: Why do you not review on Goodreads the books you read? I would be most interested to hear your opinions. If you don't care to post your answer to the general public, I would welcome a note. Thank you!

Hi Chris, I am a Goodreads Friend and have read many of your books. I am a member of Friends of the Needham Library in Needham, MA. In addition to many other things, we arrange for programs for the library. We are looking forward to planning during this season of mainly Zoom encounters. Would you consider speaking at a program with us? If so, I would appreciate a more private method for correspondence. Suggestions?
