Hi! The Inkheart trilogy is a series which never continues to amaze me, no matter how many times I re-read it . It has shaped my world more than any other book has ever managed to . And as someone who aspires to write books , I just wanted to know - Where do you get your inspiration from? And how do you shape your ideas into wonderful worlds and books which leave us mesmerised ? Thank you!

Dear Eva, Inkworld lead me down many winding roads of research: the Middle Ages, book making, Martens, fire eaters....I filled my traveling bags while writing with whatever the story called for. The inspiration happened while traveling through the labyrinth the story was hiding in. Of course as writers we are always inspired by the world we live in. All fantasy is a song of love and despair about this world and its beauty and terrors, isn't it? Writers just ask the questions we all ask: does life have a purpose, why is there pain, does evil exist? We ask these questions for the others. In my opinion it is our tasks to find words, where others can't....so...plenty of sources that feed our writing:)

I just wanted to thank you for creating the worlds that you did. As I was growing up, I always felt like I had a family with Moe, Maggie, the thief lords gang and I feel live I have flown across the world with Ben. I carried those books with me wherever I moved to and I would open the pages when I needed something familiar. Why inspired you to write such close bonds between your characters? Thank you.
