My ideas come from all over the place. Sometimes from reading or watching something or observing people when I'm out and about. Other times it's when my mind is half switched off in the shower or on a long car journey. That usually gives me the first gem of an idea. It's often as I'm falling asleep that the scene I'm going to write about the next day materialises in my imagination.
