Honeybee asked Lisa Carter:

Loved your book, Beneath a Navajo Moon! I worked with Navajos in Flagstaff. The language and culture in your story is very authentic; it made me eager to return to “my people” there! Have you lived on the Rez? How did you learn so much about the Dine? I started a novel set near the Tohono O'odham reservation. Any tips on how to find someone willing/able to lend technical assistance on that tribal group near Tucson?

Lisa Carter I'm so glad you enjoyed the book. Since my in-laws retired to western Colorado, I've made a lot of trips to the 4 Corners area. I also spent a lot of time researching the Dine, reading everything I could get my hands on. Your novel sounds so interesting. Theirs is a unique culture, too. See if the tribe has a public information person. If your budget allows, travel there and get to know setting and the people who cross your path. Thanks for reaching out. Happy reading and writing, Honeybee. :)
