How do you get inspired to write?

So, for my first novel, SPEAKING of LOVE, I wanted to know why - like many people - I was so frightened of madness. Why I felt I might catch it, the way you catch physical diseases. And in the writing of the novel I discovered.

Someone said, 'All art is the answer to a question.' I agree, but I'd add 'from the heart': all art is the answer to a question from the heart.
