Bevil Foster asked Nick Higgins:

Nick I have just chatted with Joe Turner and he told me all about your new role as an author. I looked you up on google and there you are. I see you live in South Devon , exactly where ? I would love to know since I was brought up in Kingsbridge ( I was based in the old Custom House at Plymouth ) and played cricket and football for Kingsbridge. I remember games where your fielding was brilliant. Best wishes Bev

Nick Higgins Hi Bev, I'm so sorry it's taken me so long to reply. Your message was in Spam and I haven't checked it for ages. Anyway, here I am in sunny Wembury, not too far from Kingsbridge. How have you been keeping since we last met over 35 years ago! Blimey, how time flies. We visit Kingsbridge quite often, mainly to visit the charity shops - I'm on a small pension now having chucked my hand in 4 years early to look after grand kids and help the Mrs. I played cricket for Wembury for a while, but injuries took their toll and as I was on the Cutters at the time I was given the option to play cricket or still have a job. Money was more important than sport.
Had a long chat with Joe and Mike Williams a while back. Both sounded very well despite the loss of their wives. It was great to hear from them, and yourself. I started writing whilst very bored on the boats. I've only written two novels and it's a bit of a bucket list thing rather than anything commercial. You don't make any money unless you're very lucky - and I'm not! Glad I did it though; it was very rewarding and something for the grand kids to read when I'm long gone. They're two very different books. Rhino Hunt is very much a lads book which may offend. Googly is for anyone who likes a Boy's Own story.
I hope you're keeping well. I believe you meet up with some old faces from time to time. If so, please give anyone who remembers me my fondest regards. I'm hoping to get back to Bristol over the summer and visit Brislington Cricket Club to see a few old mates. It'll be the first time back for many years - that's if Covid doesn't get me!
Take care, Bev, and lovely to hear from you. Oh, nearly forgot - my daughter used to work in Kingsbridge for a few years. She was the manageress at Vision Express at the top of the hill.
Cheers, Nick.
