Goodreads asked Ian V. Conrey:

How do you get inspired to write?

Ian V. Conrey More than anything else it was music. As I wrote my novel I listened to Radiohead, Mumford and Sons, and lots of early American folk songs. I also can't even count the amount of hours I spent listening to Bach, Beethoven, and Tchaikovsky.

As a close second, my inspiration came from myth. I love Gilgamesh, the Odyssey, the Greek Plays, and even more modern myths, such as Tolkien's The Children of Húrin.
