Goodreads asked Kathleen Ryder:

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Kathleen Ryder As with all of my novels, I write the kind of books that I want to read, with characters that are relatable and believable, regardless of how outrageous the setting is.

The ideas for my latest novel, The Surgeon's Baby, came about as I considered accessing an IVF clinic to have a child, as I did for my first born. I started to wonder what would happen if the anonymous donor actually turned out to be someone you knew, or in the case of my main character, someone you worked with.
