Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Mark R. Healy I wrote a song several years ago called 'The Silent Earth' which was themed around a world where all life had perished and the Earth had returned to a kind of primal state, devoid of plants and animals. All very bleak, I know, but I also found there was a stark beauty in the loneliness of it all. I really wanted to write something in that world and explore the themes of loss, sorrow and hope, and I eventually did with 'After the Winter'.
