Goodreads asked Suzanne Wylde:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Suzanne Wylde Many people start writing, hate what they write and stop. But it is important to remember that it is often a bit like flushing a pipe - you have to write badly sometimes, to get it out of your system, to learn, to practice and to find your voice! To use another analogy it is a bit like chipping away at a block of stone, letting the extraneous stone fall to the ground - except it is a tone, phrase, style, rhythm that does not suit you or your message. Also, every book has its own beating heart - everything you do is in service of revealing, nourishing and supporting that essential core. So once you have discovered what that is, you can ask yourself "is this sentence/ section/ chapter in service of the heart of my book?". Good luck with your writing!
