Hi Phuc! Fellow '80s kid, lit nerd and Star Wars enthusiast here. I went to school with a Vietnamese-American kid we called "Yo," but his name was spelled "Du." I thought for sure it was a nickname we gave him out of laziness, but after reading the chapter in which your dad tries to teach you Vietnamese, I now wonder if we were at least somewhat close? Thanks for your time and for a fantastic memoir.

Hi, Molly: Yes, you were very close. Depending on whether his family was from the north or the south, it would be pronounced Dzoo (northern dialect) or Yoo (southern dialect). My father is a southerner, so the letter D is pronounced as a Y. Thanks for reading the book!

I am so excited to read your book. I am from York, PA and during a similar period as you, my family hosted a Vietnamese couple, also refugees. They lived with us for several years and after still stopped by anytime they were passing through town. Do you know how or through what agency these resettlements happened? My parents have passed and I have so many questions about this time and this area's history with refugees
