I miss them too. Mac is probably my favorite character to write. But I don't plan any new Life Lessons novels soon. I do hope to come back to them years down the road, when the kids are older. (Mac with a teenage daughter?) And I'm not completely ruling out a short story or something. But no new novels for a while :(
The problem is that these books were always meant to be both police procedural mystery and relationship romance in a balanced and blended way. That means Tony had to get involved in one of Mac's murder cases, so the two story lines could come together. And four murders are as many as any mild-mannered teacher can plausibly fall into. I try to keep my writing feeling real. (I already have reviews saying "If I was a friend of Tony's, I'd move." LOL He does know too many murdered people.)
I'm starting work on a new series, mystery with a touch of paranormal, and I hope to write other books in different genres. With luck, I will write new characters you also come to love. Thanks for the question.

Greetings! Thanks for your newsletters and advocacy and promotion of queer visibility. I was wondering if my upcoming book would be appropriate for discussion and how to get that sent around? Romeo and Julian is a 60k word modern time queer biracial retelling of a the play including drag queens and a trans hero and featuring a delicious justice for rampant right wing corruption. Launches 2/28. ian, ihjenkins@ucsd.edu

What initially inspired you to write M/M books? After you began what were some challenges you encountered that you did not expect? As you've stated in a previous question you are writing from a culture that is not entirely your own and I was curious on the steps you take to being comfortable writing from a male perspective. I absolutely love your writing and applaud you for being such a contender in the M/M genre.
