Mary asked Joy Ellis:

Is the airfield in Killer on the Fens based on any particular place (or places)? Or, indeed the towns in your books? I know very little about Lincolnshire I'm afraid apart from occasional visits to Lincoln so I find the scenery quite difficult to visualise. I'd rather like to use Google Street View to give me some kind of idea of what the area looks like. (Really enjoying the books btw)

Joy Ellis Hi Mary, well, Greenborough is very much based on Boston and some of the locations in Greenborough are specific to Boston town, like the tall and beautiful parish church and the tidal river and the docks etc. Most of the other settings especially the rural and fen ones, are an amalgam of places I've walked, like the sea bank walk from Fosdyke along the banks of the Welland river, and the lagoons at Frampton Marsh. There are a lot of old airfields here, although they are sadly being demolished. Things have changed radically in the last twenty years, and some of my fictional locations are very much as things were, rather than as they are now. Do hope this helps a little, x
