Great question. As a writer I draw from many "near misses" in life. Those situations where everything turned out well ... but what if? These make for juicy plot lines.
To answer your question, I would LOVE to go back in time and learn the circumstances of my birth. Why my mother chose to have me on her own, why she didn't give me up for adoption as planned and how a California girl ended up in Chicago desperate to escape from a bad relationship.
I know some details of the eighteen month period in her life. They would make a stunning psychological thriller.
Still, too many critical details she kept to herself. Details she will never be able to share with me as we lost her to breast cancer four years ago.
