Goodreads asked Kendal Waller:

What mystery in your own life could be a plot for a book?

Kendal Waller Interesting question. I had to think about it for a bit because I would say I'm not very mysterious nor has my life been. However, as a child my mother's show horse died. He was incredible and drew a lot of attention from the groups we competed against. His death was tragic to my family and our training barn. However there seemed to be more to the story.

You see, our horse had won a particular event for a few years in a row. It was the one competition that had a pay out every year. The summer our horse, (who happened to be in the gelding classes) died, the winning mare and the winning stallion also died.

I always felt this was too big to be a coincidence. Though I was eleven and had an imagination that would wander. To my knowledge, no one ever looked into the coincidence further.
