As a psychotherapist, people fascinate me. Even when I am picking up my kids from the school playground, I often scan the faces of parents and children to try and read the subtext: Who is tense when certain people are around? Who has an upper handle in the constantly evolving balances of power. Who is triggered by someone's presence? Even if I am not right about my assumptions, it offers useful inspiration for more writing (whether that is fiction or non-fiction).
