The Almost Sisters has lots of references to Faulkner's "A Rose for Emily" that I really enjoyed. Was the short story the inspiration for that novel?

You are my new favorite author! I love how you blend the good parts of southern culture (faith, hospitality, warmth, etc.) with the terrible parts, like racism. Were you raised Baptist, Catholic or something different? I have seen both of these in your novels. The way you phrase things related to faith is truly inspiring. I especially love the picture you painted of the church at the end of Almost Sisters.
