Goodreads asked Staffan Nöteberg:

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Staffan Nöteberg Triggered by the success of my book Pomodoro Technique Illustrated, I was invited to China. I spent October 2015 traveling around this beautiful country. I taught personal productivity in small bookshops in Tianjin and at huge conferences in Shanghai. Almost every day, I gave a speech in a new city—Shenzhen, Nanjing, Beijing. And everywhere I met curious people who asked: “How can we complete things when we have so many tasks to do?” The answer is Monotasking— delivering the vital few by skipping the useful many.

The truth is that you won’t get more done just because you accept more requests—rather, it’s the other way around. And you can start today. It’s simple. Write down your five most important tasks right now on a piece of paper. This is your current short list. Now use your intuition to pick one of these five tasks and focus on that one and on nothing else.
