It seems to me that you have a lot of knowledge about planning and executing space exploration missions, so I'd like to know how much of your story is based on actual missions that NASA is planning for sending men to Mars?

I found the science in the book to be convincingly accurate, to the point where I really felt like I was learning survival techniques should I become stranded on Mars (I only say convincingly because I couldn't prove otherwise). How much time did you put into research to make it so accurate and what was that process like?
