Snow Flower and the Secret Fan was my very favorite of your novels. It was also the first one I read. My neighbor, who is Chinese American gave it to me and it opened up wonderful stories of his mother in China who refused to have her feet wrapped. You may history very approachable. Do you do most of your research online or do you travel to China and visit libraries and museums?

Thank you so much for your beautiful words about Snow Flower and the Secret Fan. I love that your neighbor gave it to you. That's so in the spirit of the story, don't you think?
To answer your question, YES! I do tons of research. If you go to my web site, you'll see there's a whole section about my research and my trip to China for Snow Flower.

Lisa, I don't have a question--just want to rave about your last book, The Tea Girl of Humminbird Lane. It was for a book club and I thought to myself that it would not interest me. How wrong I was! I ended up ordering Pur tea on Amazon and paying more than I ordinarily would. So looking forward to this next book. I just finished The Girl With Seven Names and it was fabulous--Have you read it?

WOW! WOW! WOW! The Island of Sea Women is nothing less than incredible! The cover is STUNNING! it feels so good in your hands as you read. This book is so full of characters you love, stories that break your heart, and research by the author that is so detailed, it drew me to look into these amazing women and their history more deeply. As soon as I finished, I wanted to start back at page one. Hugs from Maine ?

Dear Lisa, Thank you for such thoroughly researched novels. My mother, from the Lee Family in L.A. Chinatown, was SOOO excited when "On Gold Mountain" first came out. She gifted annotated copies to her 3 adult children & 3 nieces & nephews. Did you know her courtyard neighbors were the Fong See family and her sister played with Sissy? Since then, I've read 8 more.
