Since your debut novel Labor of Love had lived in your mind for so long, did you draw from your own personal experiences when writing this particular story, or was it your imagination and creative mind where it all played out?

Leah Omar I love this question. I definitely drew from the experiences of my life, but then I took a lot of creative liberties in the story that I eventually told. I was on a three hour car ride to my family's up north cabin (How Minnesotan!) and started telling the story in my head. I knew I wanted it to focus on an interracial couple (That is from person experience) and I knew I wanted it to take place somewhere outside of the US. And from there, I created A Labor of Love.
