What’s the best thing about being a writer?

Darrin Lowery Being recognized, emails from readers, speaking at black student unions at universities and most of all the escape that writing affords me. Once you get past the BS, there are a lot of people willing to help and once you become part of the community you have friends for life. Though I am not a marquee author, I have MANY friends that are who will always pick up the phone and motivate me, give me advice or a verbal kick in the behind because I am slacking, lol.
