Goodreads asked Caterina Novelliere:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Caterina Novelliere My favorite way to deal with writer's block is to shift environment or go experience something related to what I am working on. Long walks in the woods or along the water on nice days can give me a creative jumpstart. Engaging my nose and tastes buds seems to help move writer's block out of the way as well. I will go out to a shop or restaurant to sample foods and beverages that will appear in my novels. On occasion, I will recreate a historical dish at home if I can find a recipe and the ingredients or similar substitutions. Lastly, I will put some music on and make soutache pieces or paint to re-spark the creative side that likes to research and write. If I am under a deadline then I will force myself to just word vomit on a page. Having to edit that mess usually helps the inner author come back to life. If all those fail, it is time to step away from whatever I am working on for a bit.
