Ann Neff asked Joy Ellis:

Question about Rowan Jackman. Would it be a natural career progression to attend a prestigious school such as Oxford and then become a police detective? Does this give him a "leg up" with his career progression? Thank you very much. Love this series so much.

Joy Ellis Hello Ann, so glad that you are enjoying the series. Re university, it seems to be the normal way into policing these days, and it certainly can help to fast-track people into good positions. In Jackman's case, it was his father who wanted much more from him than being a police officer, hence Cambridge. He studied sociology, knowing it would help him if he became a detective in the future, and finally he followed his dream, despite his father's wishes, something that did little for their relationship. Hope that explains it. x
