I love a good horror, thriller, or mystery. When I was reading the synopsis I noticed it takes place in Johnstown, PA. I live in the area. So I'm wondering what made you choose Johnstown as the setting?

Hi Angie! Thanks for your question. I grew up in the Johnstown area! It’s my hometown and I have a complicated relationship with it. I explore this in JACKAL. While there are plenty of stories set in the rust belt, aspects of Johnstown’s history make it an excellent setting for mystery/horror: The landscape, divisions of class, small town sensibilities, historic tragedy, and so much more. It’s a place full of texture and layers, making it an excellent setting!

Even though this piece is fiction, I love when I find a book and the setting is so close to where I grew up, (Shippensburg,PA) makes the book all that more interesting for me when reading. Johnstown definitely is a predominantly white, prejudice area. I'm curious to know how you found out about this little rinky-dink town? Did you grow up in Pennsylvania or close to Johnstown?
