Goodreads asked Fay Lamb:

What mystery in your own life could be a plot for a book?

Fay Lamb When I was younger, I was a latchkey kid. My sister and I were home alone at night, and the neighborhood boys would scare us by looking into the window. For years, at night, I had to have my blinds closed. More recently, though, I worked in my office with a large window in the front yard. One night, I was writing away. I looked up, and a man in a yellow shirt was standing to the side of my window watching me. He turned and walked away. Pretty much, blinds are closed every night, but I think this has great potential for a story.
