Goodreads asked Tim Wright:

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Tim Wright My newest book, The Adventures of Toby Baxter: The River Elf, the Giant, and the Closet, grew out of three influences:

1) My love for fantasy adventure books. In some ways this is a fun-filled love letter to the genre and books like Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, The Hobbit, and The Chronicles of Narnia (upon which I based the subtitle of my book).

2) My work with Dr. Michael Gurian (Saving our Sons; The Purpose of Boys; The Minds of Girls) on rites of passage. I took that work and turned it into an engaging story, hoping to impart, as all good fantasy adventures do, some good values and character qualities to think about.

3) Being a grandpa. My grandkids inspired me to write this story.
