Why are there no women in the security section at St. Mary's? There are such strong women in every other area of these books... except maybe technical, but Polly Perkins always seems lumped in with them, even though she's IT.... OK, so second question, why are there no women in the technical section? This has always seemed like a big miss to me in books that are otherwise so empowering towards women.

Well, we have Captain Hyssop, of course. Whatever your opinion of her may be, she certainly likes to get her own way. As for the technical section, that's a very good point. I've never named all of them - perhaps when I next need a techie she could well be female. There is Mikey, but she tends to hang around in R&D, although now she's joined the Time Police as their technical consultant, anything could happen.

Hi Jodi. I have become a huge fan of the Chronicles of St Mary's books, and I started reading them around the same time that I was writing my first book, so they've become a big inspiration and aspiration as far as cohesive plots with likeable characters. I wanted to ask if you sometimes get an idea, then work it into a St Mary's plot as you're already rolling with them, and if you have some ideas reserved for later?
