I consider myself an aspiring writer, so my qualifications to answer this question are suspect.
However, I can say that if your goal is to get your material out into the world, YOU have to put in the work. Nobody will push you, nobody will help you, unless you first push yourself. Once others see your hard work and dedication, they will line up to help make your work better.
