I deal with writer's block by turning to some other creative endeavors, such as creating scenes using 3D modeling software and rendering 2D artwork from the scenes. By putting my focus on some other creative project, I free my subconscious to work out the problem I'm having with my story. When I go back to my writing, typically the obstacles I faced earlier aren't obstacles anymore, but new revelations about my story that I had difficulty seeing before. If I give my subconsciousness time to work on a problem, it always comes up with an amazing answer.
