I've been a huge Percy Jackson fan since I was little, and the tremendous impact that your literary world had on me is incredible. I don't think I would be the person I am today if it weren't for your books and the world they introduced me to, and for that I am eternally grateful. Are you aware of the influence you have on your young readers? How do you come to terms with such a burden? Asking as a future writer!

Thank you! It is an honor and a pleasure to have been part of your reading journey. I never think of it as a burden, though I do feel a responsibility to do the best job I can telling these stories. I have trouble wrapping my mind around the idea of 'millions' of readers. I usually just imagine myself writing for one of my own middle-school classrooms, back in the day, and trying to make the story fun, accessible, inclusive and relevant for all of my kids. I don't always succeed, but that's the goal I aim for!

Mr.Riordan, I don't know if you still see or answer these questions, but there's something I wanted to ask. Ever since 2005, you released a book every year. But the Nico standalone novel is being released in 2023 (so that means there's no book in 2022). Does it bother you that the long streak is broken? Or do you feel relieved?

I'm wondering if you have read any new Middle Grade or YA books that you think are underrated or not get as much love? I'm always looking for a new series to recommend to kids, or to read myself! :)

Do you think that, when trying to create a story, it is more important to first be somewhat sure of the outline of the world and the plot before starting to shape the characters, or rather the other way round? Also, thank you for having chosen to tell your stories to the whole world. I am deeply thankful.
