Right after the Soccer Grannies visited the U.S. in 2010, my teammates and I marveled at what a miraculous experience it was. At the time, Coach Catherine said “Whoever retires first must write a book!” Over the next few years friendship with our sister soccer team grew. When I moved on from full time work (couldn’t bring myself to say retired!) in 2015, I hadn’t forgotten Catherine's idea. I was an engineer with no background in creative writing, so I started taking some classes. The more I learned about writing and the Soccer Grannies, the more determined I became to share their inspirational story with the world. Eight long years later, mission accomplished!
