Actually, my first epic poem, which I wrote when I was eight, was about an enchanted dragon, so I’ve always had dragons on the brain. However, the main plot for the first book in my series came on a long drive to visit my sister. I watched the truck drivers slogging down the road and wondered what led them to that particular career, and if they were given the chance to do something crazy, like kill a dragon for a beautiful hitchhiker, would they drop everything and do it.
