When I first read your novel, I was just released from hospital after an intense battle with COVID. Your story made me laugh, cry and relate to Jules, especially by living a standard of what others expect from you, and I am thankful for that. My question is, will there ever be a novella with Mat and Jules after they finished college? If so, will it be in Mat's perspective?

my entire heart! 💛 thank you so much for this and for reading Jules' story. I hope you're doing better and I'm sending you all my love.
as enticing as it is and as much as I would love to stay in their world forever, I don't expect to write any more of Jules and Mat's life. mainly because, in my own mind and heart, they're living their happily ever after, and, I think, however that takes shape is something I more than welcome readers to envision and daydream with me about. (however, maybe we'll get to see one of Jules' friends having his main character moment in the not too distant future.)
I did, just for the sake of taking one final lap with them, write an epilogue that's available on my website that takes place in the final days of Jules' first year of college, which you can read at: https://www.jonnygarzavilla.com/epilogue

Jonny Garza Villa:
Are there characters in your novels that are based off of true people or are their stories based on true stories that you know of? I've read Ander and Santi Were Here and am getting ready to read Fifteen Hundred Miles from the Sun and have always felt so attached to the raw nature of the novels but am curious about your inspiration.

I love love love your books, Jonny! I don't even know how you write like that-- making characters so intricate and real. I saw this especially in Canto Contigo, like I connected with Rey so well because I'm also trans and black and gay and it really felt like an awakening, like, wow, i finally found myself in a book!!! how do you come up with these ideas?? will there be more happy books like that in the future?
