What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

M. Joseph Murphy Get rid of the word "aspiring". If you want to be a writer, write. If someone tells you you're not a real writer they are either rude or an idiot. Usually both.

You probably don't want to publish your first book. It took me 5 times before I came up with something publishable. Writing is a talent you have to practice.

If you want to publish the first book, hire a good editor AND a good proofreader before you submit it anywhere.

Finally, realize that no book will ever be perfect. There will always be flaws, things you'd like to change. But there comes a point you have to say "enough" and move on to something else. Otherwise, you'll be working on your first book for the rest of your life.
