Getting to live multiple lives. Inhabiting other worlds and universes. Not just escaping into a book, but controlling the adventure... or, at least, influencing it. I can't say with great confidence that I've always been in control of the narrative. My characters are real people with minds of their own. They react in unexpected ways, completely counter to how I might solve a problem. And that's the most fascinating thing.
