I am reading the whole Middle Fall series. I just finished book #7 and about to start #8. I find those stories amazing: while talking about time travel, they focus so much on the human side of the characters, they are really touching. One thing troubles me, though: are you ever afraid that someone reading your Middle Fall books might be tempted to commit suicide to "reset" their life?
Shawn Inmon
That is one of those things completely beyond my control.
When I wrote The Unusual Second Life of Thomas Weaver, I thought it was a standalone novel. I had no idea that in 2023, I would be writing the 18th and 19th books in the series.
Because of that, suicide was the mechanism for reset that worked best for the story. When I wrote the next few books in the series, it seemed to make sense to continue that pattern.
By the time I got to Book Eight, however, I wanted to make a change, and I did. From that point forward, the protagonists die natural deaths, or through their own stupidity, or from Watcher interference, but very rarely by their own hand.
My own life has been touched by suicide. It's nothing I would ever take lightly.

I see that you have The Regretful life of Richard Bell coming in November. Maybe I just have missed them but it seems in the past they get announced and then bam they are out. Are you having the audiobook getting ready so that they come out at the same time? I know you have said in the past you do not like to do that, I can certainly see however how that could be very beneficial for pre-orders and first day sales.

Hi Shawn, I am a big fan of the Middle Falls series, and have listened form Thomas Weaver to Karl Strong with great pleasure. And really like your message at the end of each book on what inspired that particular character and which song you were listening to, is a nice personal touch. I noticed the last two in the series are not on audible, Any chance of that happening in the near future?
