David Millar
David Millar asked David Millar:

Is the island of Echelon in your novel "The Ministry for Ignoring Climate Change" a real place?

David Millar Yes and no! The "Echelon Quartet Islands" of the story is actually an anagram of Queen Charlotte Islands, the previous name of Haida Gwaii (off the western Canadian coast) until it was renamed in 2009. So the setting and general ambience of long beaches, misty pine-covered mountains and the small communities is essentially Haida Gwaii but the individual places are imaginary, although the island of Langara is real.
