Hello! Just emerging, shaken, from The Cabin at the End of the World, and bought a couple more of your books. Thanks for the excellent writing! I hate ambiguous endings but found this one entirely justified. I'd love to hear your thoughts on the movie's divergence from the book's plot; from what online interviews I could find, you haven't said much about it? (It seems to me to be quite a different story!)
Paul Tremblay
Hi, and thank you for reading. I like the movie but don't like the ending. Removing the ambiguity means we're rooting for the home invaders. We shouldn't be rooting for them, yeah? I think his ending is way bleaker than mine too. More blabbing about it here: https://www.latimes.com/entertainment...

Hi Paul, I work with your dad at market basket. Did you get inspired with any of your books from him?

HFOG...the ending. Did Merrys older sister love her so much and want to save Merry from herself because she knew she was fading into possession and becoming something demonic, or was she faking and trying to save Merry from a life of drudgery w parents who cared more about fame than their own children and sacrifice herself along with killing her parents so Merrys life would be "better off" for lack of a better word?

I just finished A Head Full of Ghosts. I read it in two days. Wow. So well written. So darkly comic. Your word choices amazed me. So subtle but so perfect. I wish I had marked the words so I could go back now and tell you. So what actually happened? By my reading I'm left with the impression that it's actually Merry who is possessed and/or insane. That Marjorie never was possessed. I'd love to know your intent. TY!
