Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Tobias Roote The Pattern Universe came from an idea I had of a superior AI being sent around the universe collecting data about other planets, races and their social/technological achievements. Intended to return and hand all of this over to a potentially undeserving progenitor. From that came Zirkos, Ship and Pod and other characters yet to be revealed.
