Goodreads asked Mario Zecca:

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Mario Zecca The near biblical saga of how The Goddess of Pigland was meticulously woven together during the almost two decades of its own momentous creation may seem preposterous and unbelievable.
Nonetheless, here it is in brief synopsis, and if I might shed the cocoon of humility briefly and compare my literary opus to Homer’s Odyssey, a slightly lesser work, but notable because of the obvious parallels of adventure and protagonist.
It is a well-kept secret that Dr Seuss, the renowned author-illustrator, yearned to take his visionary imagination beyond daydreaming and attack the bastion of children's lit. His goal was fully realized at a secretive meeting that would change history. On a balmy spring evening in the privacy of a privately owned eastern Mediterranean Island, Seuss, JRR Tolkien, Groucho Marx, a youngish Hugh Hefner and the noted mythologist, Joseph Campbell formed a charter society much like the Illuminati cult. All were propelled to greatness by the proceedings which I will catalog.
The evening began with Campbell reciting Homer. I must warn the reader that what follows is shocking and may disturb even the grimmest of mind. As scientist are aware and no doubt conducting top-secret experiments, human sacrifice is known to energize and greatly increase man’s endeavors, especially if the brain and heart are eaten. Inexplicable, you may say if you are accustomed to using five syllable words in a sentence, if not, then suffice to say, the bloody proceedings infused the men, of course it was men, women writer’s had not been invented yet, after eating and drinking the victim's blood had their separate epiphanies.
Slightly less notable but prestigious in their limited capacities, the story weavers Terry Gilliam, Bernard Cornwall and Terry Pratchett were also enlightened.
These literary and media giants were consulted and suggested a great many ideas but all of their brain storming came to nought and was rejected for lacking any but the most banal and obvious humor. A marketing analysis was brought to light and revealed that, for example, Pratchett's readership boasted a record high percentage of borderline IQs and a disproportional population of serial killer personality archetypes.
This much is fact.
And, that’s where I got the ideas for The Goddess of Pigland.
