(view spoiler)[I took the elevator to the second floor where my room was located inside the Biltmore Hotel. When I got off the elevator to walk to my room, I noticed that the room was in a different location; a corner right next to the balcony that I had not noticed before either rather than on the stretch of the hallway as before. Paying no attention and chalking it up to a long day, I unlocked the door and walked into a freezing cold room with no windows, a phone with no dial tone and the sound of a screaming woman in the bathroom. When I looked into the bathroom, there was no one there. However, the tub was full of water. I left the room in a hurry, took the elevator back down to the lobby to report to the concierge who then followed me back up to discover there was no water in the tub. He repaired the thermostat as I told him of other out of place things... he laughed and told me that the hotel was known to have ghost.
I was at the hotel on a writing assignment, so I thought to use the experience as inspiration as it completely changed the direction of what I was initially writing about. In my research of the hotel, I discovered what the concierge said to be true... the ghost. I thought long and hard about the girl I shared an elevator with earlier in the evening. She told me that her name was Elizabeth as she cried endlessly in the elevator while I consoled her. She went on about how she was put out of the car by a man that she had come all the way to the city to meet. She was dressed in all black, something from the 50's. She was pale and looked very much out of place or maybe she had left a costume throwback party... I was not sure. It was odd to me that I then stumbled upon photos of a girl online who looked identical to the girl I shared the elevator with. Her name was Elizabeth Short. (hide spoiler)]
