Hi! I was wondering which year the sun and the star will be set in because it would be interesting to correlate to events..Also, your books are fantastic! (?)

Hope you enjoy the book! I never tie a particular 'real year' to the action of a novel, just as I never assign a birth year to any of my characters. The novel happens in its own 'modern day,' whenever the reader is reading it. Of course you can try to guess what was going on in the real world when I wrote any particular book by the kind of cultural references I make, but even that doesn't necessarily tie to exact years. For instance, 'So Yesterday' was a hit by Hilary Duff the year I was writing The Lightning Thief, but that doesn't mean the book action has to happen in that year. I think the joke of Grover playing that particular song only gets funnier the older the song is.

Hi Rick! I’ve been a huge fan for years, since my best friend showed me the Percy Jackson series about 10 years ago. I was wondering, every author or actor etc. has regrets of films or books they did, do you have any books you regret? If you had to choose one book you wish you could’ve made better, which would it be?

Hi. uncle Rick, How are you? I've been a big fan of your books since I picked up The Son of Neptune. I recently started trying to get into writing mainly short stories and as I've been writing the hardest thing for me is the dialogue, one of my favorite things about every one of your series is that your dialogue is funny and natural, not weird at all, so I guess I'm asking is how do you write dialogue that is natural.

dude, as an american muslim who's story is almost exactly like Sam's (family escaped from Baghdad, came to US, even my grandpa's name was Abbas!) I just wanted to tell you that when I told my grandmother about this character we both legitimately cried because it was the first time we have ever seen a character who was muslim for reasons other than the plot centering around it. You're so awesome??? Thank you so much.
