Goodreads asked Claire Delacroix:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Claire Delacroix Almost all writers I know were avid readers first. So, I think the best advice for aspiring writers is to read and read, and then to read some more. Don't just read in the genre you want to write. Read everything. And be a thoughtful reader. I tend to read books once for enjoyment and then, if the author has surprised me or done something wonderful, I go back and examine how that was done. Read to be entertained, but also to research genres and to learn your craft. There's always more to learn!
