Cameron Trost
Cameron Trost asked E.E. King:

Your short mystery, Christmas Potatoes, which is forthcoming in The Second Black Beacon Book of Mystery, is set in Utah, deep in the America's Mormon heartland. Is this a state you know well? What inspired you to write a "Mormon mystery", if we can call it so?

E.E. King For a while, in my 20's I lived Guerneville, a small town in Northern California. It was there I learned a bit about mushrooms. It rained all winter and there wasn't much else to do, but admire the bright yellow and red 'shrooms, the toadstools in the bathroom as well as some tasty edibles. I also learned about "Tippler's Bane," or Coprinopsis atramentaria. (It's also called Inky cap, because it dissolves into an inky mess shortly after being collected- YUM!) It is edible however, except when consumed with alcohol.

Fast forward many years later. I'm living in the beautiful, frigid mountains of Utah. Though I have lived here for a while, this is the only story I have written that takes place in Utah. It's not a very imaginative place!
In Christmas Potatoes my noir LA detective, Eddie, visits for vacation, but when people keep dropping dead he can't help but try to figure it out.
